I know this post is literally two seasons too early but once I found out about Gap's revamped fall 2013 collection on the Daily Mail, I HAD to write a post about it (for the only stupidly obvious reason which is that I am a sales associate at Gap). To be honest, I never considered Gap as being an exciting store or brand. I always saw it as a familiar place where you can find really great quality items at a reasonable price. Most collaborations that have had weren't my taste, such as with CLU, but I must say I really did enjoy the GQ collection even though it was menswear.
This is too much! It's making me giddy! For months I have been working in a store where all of the clothes make me blind just by looking at it (too many neon and bright colours). Not that it's a bad thing - to some it might just be up their alley - but to me I felt as if it was too repetitive. Now that Rebekka Bay is the new creative director at Gap (dare I say next Jenna Lyons?), I am beyond excited with what she has done with the fall 2013 collection so far. I feel like it stays true to the Gap style, which is "American casual", but there's a more modern twist to it. The colour palette is gorgeous (queue Gap slogan "Be Bold") with magentas, electric blues, soft pinks, and rusty oranges, mixed in with staple fall colours like navy, grey, tan, and black. This collection also touches a lot of trends such as boyfriend jeans, strappy sandals, leather skirts, oversized masculine coats and knits (just to name a few). And you know what the best part is? I can FINALLY wear a leather skirt to work without being scolded at for not being "Gap" enough! HAH!
